Mardi is the French word for Tuesday, and gras means “fat.” Long ago in France, the day before Ash Wednesday became known as Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday.” Mardi Gras traditions date back to thousands of years ago! It is celebrated all around the world in Brazil, Venice, and New Orleans!
I LOVED visiting New Orleans and learned so much about the history, food, and culture. While visiting I had quite the experience getting educated about Mardi Gras and all the different parades and floats and krewes. Needless to say I love New Orleans and had a great time visiting.
